As the start was effected, GOLDEN PARTNERS got its head down and consequently was slow to begin. Before being allowed to race again, GOLDEN PARTNERS will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. Also as the start was effected, SNOWHOOVES lifted its front feet off the ground and consequently began only fairly. A short distance later, SNOWHOOVES and DYNAMIC VOYAGE raced tight between BRILLIANT MONKEYS and THIS IS GLADIATOR, both of which shifted ground. From a wide barrier, RED PEONY was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 1300 Metres, DYNAMIC VOYAGE got its head up when being steadied to avoid the heels of THIS IS GLADIATOR (Apprentice H T Mo) which, after initially shifting in, then raced tight inside FOUR FOUR FIVE. Apprentice Mo was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. GLORY SUNSHINE lost its right hind plate after the 800 Metres. Throughout the middle stages, DYNAMIC VOYAGE got its head up on a number of occasions when awkwardly placed close to the heels of THIS IS GLADIATOR. Approaching the 500 Metres, DYNAMIC VOYAGE, which continued to get its head up when racing keenly, was awkwardly placed outside the heels of RED PEONY. Apprentice K K Chiong (DYNAMIC VOYAGE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 300 Metres she permitted her mount to shift out when not clear of PRINCE FALCON, causing that horse to be checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled and for ENJOY THE GAME, which was racing outside PRINCE FALCON, to also be inconvenienced. Apprentice Chiong was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday, 26 September 2016 on which day she may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday, 18 September 2016. In addition, Apprentice Chiong was fined $10,000. Passing the 200 Metres, GOLDEN PARTNERS raced tight inside THIS IS GLADIATOR which shifted in under pressure. This resulted in Apprentice Mo having to stop riding and straighten his mount. Throughout the race, ENJOY THE GAME travelled wide and without cover. For the majority of the race, PLAIN BLUE BANNER travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of PRINCE FALCON, J Moreira stated that, as usual, PRINCE FALCON settled back in the field. He said PRINCE FALCON travelled fairly until near the 500 Metres at which point the tempo of the race quickened. He said PRINCE FALCON did not show the same turn of foot as other runners, however, was then commencing to improve its position in the early part of the Straight when it received interference near the 300 Metres. He added after being checked, he then tested PRINCE FALCON to the end of the race and the horse made up some ground which indicated to him that had it not have been for the interference sustained near the 300 Metres PRINCE FALCON would have finished in a more prominent position. A veterinary inspection of PRINCE FALCON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. PRINCE FALCON, RED PEONY and HAY GO LUCKY were sent for sampling.
