FORTUNE BRAVO was withdrawn on 27.6.14 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SOLAR BOY (K C Leung). Before being allowed to race again, FORTUNE BRAVO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SPURS ON began awkwardly and shortly after the start was momentarily crowded for room inside SOLAR DRAGON which shifted in. LA COTE DE BLEU began awkwardly. From a wide barrier, HEAR THE ROAR was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Approaching and passing the 900 Metres, GOOD LUCK WIN became unbalanced when proving difficult to settle. After the 900 Metres, SOLAR BOY was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 800 Metres, GLOBAL FAME got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SPURS ON. After the 600 Metres, GOOD TIMES ROLL was awkwardly placed outside the heels of AMERICAN FAME and behind SOLAR DRAGON. In this incident, GOOD LUCK WIN, which was racing to the outside of GOOD TIMES ROLL, raced in restricted room inside SOLAR BOY. Rounding the Home Turn, SPLENDID GUY raced tight between TRIUMPHANT WAY and LA COTE DE BLEU which shifted out into clear running. At the entrance to the Straight, GOOD TIMES ROLL was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SOLAR DRAGON. For some distance in the early part of the Straight, TAI PO FORTUNE was checked away from the heels of AMERICAN FAME when held up for clear running behind that horse which was giving ground. Approaching the 350 Metres, AMERICAN FAME, which was continuing to give ground, was steadied away from the heels of GOOD TIMES ROLL which, when racing tight inside SOLAR DRAGON, was initially taken in marginally by that horse before getting its head on the side and shifting in further of its own accord. In the circumstances, no action was taken. Passing the 100 Metres, TAI PO FORTUNE was shifted out away from the heels of SPURS ON to continue improving. The performances of AMERICAN FAME and TRIUMPHANT WAY, which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, AMERICAN FAME and TRIUMPHANT WAY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of SPURS ON and GOLDWEAVER immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in both horses’ tracheas. Before being allowed to race again, SPURS ON and GOLDWEAVER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of TAI PO FORTUNE immediately following the race revealed the horse to have sustained cuts to the left hind leg. A veterinary inspection of SOLAR BOY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious. TAI PO FORTUNE, GLOBAL FAME and GOOD LUCK WIN were sent for sampling.
