I’M IN CHARGE began awkwardly and then shortly after the start became badly unbalanced after being bumped heavily by TURIN PEARL which was taken out by LONGWAH SUPREME. GREEN EASY was crowded for room at the start between LONDON WALK and RUMBA KING which shifted out. For some distance approaching and passing the 1000 Metres, I’M IN CHARGE got its head up on a number of occasions when over-racing and awkwardly placed close to the heels of MERIDIAN TREASURE. Approaching the 900 Metres, GREEN EASY, which had made ground quickly, was steadied away from the heels of SILLY BUDDIES (J Moreira) which shifted in. J Moreira was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in future. Near the 500 Metres, I’M IN CHARGE was hampered after attempting to improve between MERIDIAN TREASURE and RUMBA KING where there was insufficient room. I’M IN CHARGE and RUMBA KING then raced tight rounding the Home Turn as I’M IN CHARGE attempted to shift out from behind MERIDIAN TREASURE. Passing the 50 Metres, I’M IN CHARGE was struck over the nose by the whip of Z Purton (RUMBA KING). Close to the finishing line, ALL FRIENDS was checked away from the heels of LONGWAH SUPREME when held up for clear running behind that horse. RUMBA KING and HEARTS KEEPER travelled wide and without cover throughout the race. I’M IN CHARGE lost its left front plate during the running of the race. A veterinary inspection of RUMBA KING and I’M IN CHARGE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. I’M IN CHARGE, SILLY BUDDIES and TURIN PEARL were sent for sampling.
