As the start was effected, EMPEROR CLAUDIUS lifted its front feet off the ground and consequently began only fairly. EMPEROR CLAUDIUS was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages. WINNING MASCOT was crowded for room at the start between AMBER DRAGON which shifted out slightly and FLYING UNICORN which shifted in. From the outside barrier, RED DANCER was taken across behind runners in the early stages. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, JAZZY FEELING was awkwardly placed close to the heels of AMBER DRAGON. Approaching the 1100 Metres, ROYAL PARTNER got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of FLYING UNICORN. Over the concluding stages, RED DANCER was awkwardly placed between EMPEROR CLAUDIUS and ROCK THE TREE. Close to the finishing line, GRIMMY and FLYING UNICORN raced tight due to FLYING UNICORN shifting in slightly under pressure. In the Straight, EMPEROR CLAUDIUS lay in and proved difficult to ride. A veterinary inspection of RED DANCER and AMBER DRAGON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. ROYAL PARTNER and WINNING MASCOT were sent for sampling. <2014/4/17 Additional Veterinary Reports>The Veterinary Officer reported that MASQUERADER was lame in its right front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, MASQUERADER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
