BRILLIANT DREAM and LUCKY SCEPTER bumped at the start. BRILLIANT DREAM lost its right front plate at the start. SWEET BEAN began only fairly. From the outside barrier, CITY POWER was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. After the 1000 Metres, EVER SHINY commenced to prove difficult to settle and got its head up on a number of occasions. After the 800 Metres, TAI PO FORTUNE commenced to prove very difficult to settle and got its head up when being checked away from the heels of TOP ACT. TAI PO FORTUNE continued to over-race and near the 600 Metres blundered when racing close to the heels of TOP ACT. When this happened, TAI PO FORTUNE shifted in slightly, resulting in OPTIMISM being hampered when crowded for room. Passing the 500 Metres, SWEET BEAN was steadied away from the heels of EVER SHINY when taken out by CITY POWER which improved its position to the outside of OPTIMISM. RIBOT LEGACY travelled wide and without cover until passing the 600 Metres and then in the Straight gave ground. NAUGHTY BABY hung in in the Straight and near the 50 Metres shifted in and brushed the running rail. In the Straight, BRILLIANT DREAM raced greenly and shifted ground on a number of occasions when being ridden out. A veterinary inspection of EVER SHINY, RIBOT LEGACY and STAG KNIGHT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. STAG KNIGHT, NAUGHTY BABY and TOP ACT were sent for sampling.
