FIGHTING BOY shifted out at the start and bumped REWARDING HERO. MIGHTY K blundered at the start. Shortly after the start, BOY OH BOY raced in restricted room between APOLLO CAVALIER and SPLENDID VICTORY which began awkwardly and shifted out. GREAT CHARM, SMILING WATCH and HELENE FUN STAR were all taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Near the 1300 Metres, SPLENDID VICTORY and BOY OH BOY, which had been ridden along, were crowded for room inside COUR VALANT (A Suborics) which shifted in when not properly clear. A Suborics was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise more care than he did on this occasion when shifting ground in future. In the early stages, COUR VALANT got its head up on a number of occasions when proving difficult to settle. Approaching the 1200 Metres, SPLENDID VICTORY raced tight between ENTHUSIASM and BOY OH BOY. After the 1100 Metres, BOY OH BOY, which had been ridden along for some distance, shifted in away from the heels of POLYMER WIN, resulting in SPLENDID VICTORY being crowded for room outside MIGHTY K. BOY OH BOY then commenced to over-race and got its head up on a number of occasions when being checked away from the heels of firstly COUR VALANT and then POLYMER WIN. BOY OH BOY, when racing greenly, then shifted in abruptly away from the heels of POLYMER WIN, resulting in SPLENDID VICTORY being checked and taken in onto MIGHTY K which was badly hampered and crowded onto OWNERS’ PRIDE which was also badly hampered. A short distance later, OWNERS’ PRIDE again became unbalanced when crowded for room inside MIGHTY K which got its head on the side and shifted in slightly. As these incidents were attributable to the racing manners of BOY OH BOY, no further action was taken. After the 800 Metres, BOY OH BOY continued to prove difficult to settle and got its head up on a number of occasions when being checked away from the heels of POLYMER WIN. Approaching the 500 Metres, GREAT CHARM was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MIGHTY K. At the 400 Metres, REWARDING HERO was shifted in away from the heels of MIGHTY K. REWARDING HERO then had difficulty obtaining clear running until near the 200 Metres. Passing the 350 Metres, FIGHTING BOY was shifted to the outside of OWNERS’ PRIDE when disappointed for running to the inside of that horse. GREAT CHARM had difficulty obtaining clear running until near the 300 Metres. Throughout the race, POLYMER WIN travelled wide and without cover. BOY OH BOY, REWARDING HERO and MIGHTY K were sent for sampling.
