On arrival at the Start, Jockey A Suborics expressed concern regarding the action of GOOD FELLOW. GOOD FELLOW was examined by the Veterinary Officer who advised that as the horse was lame in its left front leg, it was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of GOOD FELLOW. Before being allowed to race again, GOOD FELLOW will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SPEEDYGONZALEZ and RIGHT TIMING bumped at the start. A short distance after the start, KING ON EARTH and BOLERO were crowded for room between SPEEDYGONZALEZ and JOLLY GOOD which shifted out. From the outside barrier, HONEY PRINCESS was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Despite being ridden along in the early stages, WINNING MASCOT failed to muster speed. Approaching the 1000 Metres, RED ADVENTURE was hampered when TRES MAGNIFIQUE got its head on the side and shifted in towards the heels of GOOD THINKER. VIVA GUY, which was following, was hampered in consequence. SPEEDYGONZALEZ travelled three wide and without cover until after the 1000 Metres. After the 800 Metres, when proving difficult to settle, KING ON EARTH shifted out after being awkwardly placed close to the heels of WINNING MASCOT. RIGHT TIMING, which was following KING ON EARTH, was then ridden along to improve its position to the inside of that horse, resulting in KING ON EARTH being left racing wide and without cover. Approaching and passing the 400 Metres, VIVA GUY improved into tight running between RED ADVENTURE and BOLERO. Both B Prebble (TRES MAGNIFIQUE) and D Whyte (RIGHT TIMING) were spoken to regarding gesturing after passing the winning post. B Prebble was fined $5,000 for weighing in after the race 2 lbs overweight. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that HONEY PRINCESS was lame in its left front leg and had a restricted action in both hind legs. Before being allowed to race again, HONEY PRINCESS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. TRES MAGNIFIQUE and BOLERO were sent for sampling.
