Whilst in the saddling stalls, NINTH GALAXY had its left front plate refitted. NINTH GALAXY was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. HAPPY TUMBLER and ROYAL PARTNER were slow to begin. SIMPLE blundered at the start and was left racing wide and without cover after the 900 Metres. Making the first turn near the 700 Metres, NINTH GALAXY got its head on the side and hung out. Approaching the 200 Metres, FREDERICK ENGELS was momentarily awkwardly placed inside the heels of BOULD MOVER. Inside the 50 Metres, SIMPLE was steadied away from the heels of AMIGO which shifted out under pressure. When questioned regarding the performance of BOULD MOVER, M Chadwick stated that up in class tonight, the horse was not able to travel in the lead as it did at its most recent start when successful. He said irrespective of this, BOULD MOVER travelled well throughout the race, however, in the Straight was inclined to shift ground on a number of occasions. He said, in his opinion, the performance of BOULD MOVER could be attributed to the fact that the horse was up in grade. A veterinary inspection of BOULD MOVER, WINDICATOR POWER and SIMPLE after the race did not show any significant findings. BOULD MOVER, FREDERICK ENGELS and MASQUERADER were sent for sampling.
