THUNDER FLYER was slow to begin. From the outside barrier, CITY DELIGHT was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Near the 1100 Metres, D DAY SUPER got its head up when momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of HAPPY GOAL. Approaching the 1000 Metres, LUCKY TYCOON was steadied away from the heels of GRACYTOM (C Y Ho) which shifted in when not properly clear. C Y Ho was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in future. Near the 800 Metres, D DAY SUPER got its head up when proving difficult to settle. Making the first turn near the 700 Metres, BROTHERS IN ARMS shifted in and made contact with the running rail. INVICTUS, which was following, shifted out abruptly away from the heels of BROTHERS IN ARMS and had to be steadied away from the heels of THUNDER FLYER. SUPREME HONG KONG, which was following INVICTUS, was also hampered in consequence. After the 200 Metres, SUPREME HONG KONG shifted out and bumped COUNTRY CHARM which became unbalanced. Near the 50 Metres, SUPREME HONG KONG was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GRACYTOM which got its head on the side and shifted out under pressure away from THUNDER FLYER. For the major part of the race, SUNSHINE KID travelled wide and without cover. COUNTRY CHARM, SUNSHINE KID and THUNDER FLYER were sent for sampling.
