Steward Report Predict Pace Map
WINNING BOY, Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 12.10.12 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (colic). Before being allowed to race again, WINNING BOY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SEA DIAMOND was withdrawn on 13.10.12 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (blood abnormality and mucopus on scoping). Before being allowed to race again, SEA DIAMOND will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MASTER GUNNER was slow to begin. Passing the 400 Metres, DANCE FOR GOLD and THE UNTOUCHABLELAD bumped as DANCE FOR GOLD improved into tight running between that horse and FOREVER ELATION. DANCE FOR GOLD then shifted out, resulting in THE UNTOUCHABLELAD, OPEN SESAME and LEO’S PRIDE being inconvenienced. A Suborics (FOREVER ELATION) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 150 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of OWNERS’ PRIDE, causing that horse to be checked and to lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled. HIGHLAND DRAGON, which was positioned to the inside of OWNERS’ PRIDE, was hampered in consequence. A Suborics was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday, 5 November 2012 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). This suspension shall commence on Thursday, 25 October 2012 on which day he was due to resume race riding from a suspension incurred at the Happy Valley racemeeting last Wednesday, 10 October 2012. Over the concluding stages, AEROSA got its head on the side and shifted out under pressure, resulting in its rider, D Whyte, having to discontinue riding the horse out with the whip. Y T Cheng was questioned regarding his riding of SUNRISE in the Straight. He stated that shortly after entering the Straight he shifted his mount to the outside of HIGHLAND DRAGON to follow OWNERS’ PRIDE and FOREVER ELATION through. He said he placed SUNRISE under pressure, including using the whip on the horse. He said when being ridden out with the whip, SUNRISE finished off the race only fairly and for this reason he put the whip away after the 150 Metres and rode his mount out hands and heels in the run to the line. Y T Cheng was advised that his riding out of SUNRISE in the Straight had come under notice and he must ride his mounts with sufficient vigour so as to ensure that there is no room for query. When questioned regarding the performance of OWNERS’ PRIDE, T Angland stated that, from barrier 13, he was able to obtain a good position approaching the first turn. He said however that after being crossed by AEROSA, ADORATION gradually shifted out away from that horse’s heels and he was not able to get OWNERS’ PRIDE to come back far enough to obtain the position behind ADORATION. He said when taken out into a three wide position by that horse, HIGHLAND DRAGON improved to be racing inside OWNERS’ PRIDE which resulted in the horse having to be left racing three wide and without cover from the 800 Metres. He said that OWNERS’ PRIDE travelled satisfactorily, however, came under pressure shortly after entering the Straight. He said OWNERS’ PRIDE responded fairly to his riding until near the 150 Metres at which time the horse was checked. He added after this OWNERS’ PRIDE weakened out of the race over the concluding stages. He said although OWNERS’ PRIDE, which was up in grade and distance in today’s race, was somewhat disappointing, he believed the circumstances of today’s race did not benefit OWNERS’ PRIDE. A veterinary inspection of OWNERS’ PRIDE after the race did not show any significant findings, however, an endoscopic examination was unable to be conducted on the horse. OWNERS’ PRIDE, STRATHTAY and AEROSA were sent for sampling.
