METREVELLI began awkwardly and made contact with the hindquarters of KING OF FISH II. FIERY PATROL began awkwardly. From a wide barrier, PLOT RATIO was taken across behind runners soon after the start. Passing the 600 Metres, ABLE DRAGON and PRECISION MAGIC made contact as ABLE DRAGON improved quickly to the outside of PRECISION MAGIC. For a short distance after entering the Straight, FIERY PATROL was held up behind METREVELLI. Soon after straightening, POTENTIAL was checked away from the heels of FULL VALUE when awkwardly placed close to the heels of that runner. From early in the Straight until after passing the 200 Metres, PRECISION MAGIC was held up when awkwardly placed behind HONG KONG FAT and to the inside of ABLE DRAGON and made contact with ABLE DRAGON when attempting to obtain clear running. After leaving the 150 Metres, FIERY PATROL got its head on the side and shifted out under pressure. FIERY PATROL continued to lay out in the run to the finishing line and proved difficult to ride. Throughout the race, TOP POWER travelled wide and without cover. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SADDLERS LODGE had lost its right front plate. FULL VALUE, HONG KONG FAT and FIERY PATROL were sent for sampling.
