HAPPY GUYS began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped DAN EXCEL. A short distance after the start, HAPPY GUYS shifted in and bumped BEAUTY FLASH which in turn was taken in onto the hindquarters of OUTDOOR PEGASUS which became unbalanced. After this, HAPPY GUYS was ridden along to obtain a forward position, however, failed to muster speed and for the majority of the race travelled wide and without cover. From the outside barrier, FAMILISTS was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Near the 800 Metres, DAN EXCEL and HAPPY GUYS were taken wider by FAIR TRADE which shifted out to a position one horse off the fence. After this, DAN EXCEL was left racing wide and without cover. BEST ELEVEN and FAIR TRADE both had difficulty obtaining clear running prior to the 200 Metres. Near the 100 Metres, OUTDOOR PEGASUS shifted out and brushed DAN EXCEL. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that HAPPY GUYS had bled from both nostrils. A veterinary inspection of BEST ELEVEN after the race did not show any significant findings. SILVER GRECIAN, CHATER WAY and FULFIL A WISH were sent for sampling.
