GAIN MORE was withdrawn on 15.9.12 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore). Before being allowed to race again, GAIN MORE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. NOTUS began awkwardly and then throughout the race travelled wide and without cover. DANZULU was slow to begin. From a wide barrier, SURE CHAMP was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. For some distance near the 1100 Metres, BACKSTREET FIGHTER was awkwardly placed close to the heels of HAIR BEAUTY. Near the 900 Metres, BACKSTREET FIGHTER was checked away from the heels of HAIR BEAUTY which itself was awkwardly placed close to the heels of BESPOKE MASTER. BACKSTREET FIGHTER was unable to obtain clear running until near the 250 Metres. A Suborics pleaded guilty to a breach of Rule 100(2) in that he failed to ride EMPIRE CITY, 6th placegetter, out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards. For this offence, A Suborics was fined the sum of $20,000. A veterinary inspection of DANZULU and BESPOKE MASTER after the race did not show any significant findings. DANZULU, DOUBLE DRAGON and COSMO ONE were sent for sampling.
