SUPER CAGA was withdrawn on 18.2.12 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (inappetance) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter FIERY PATROL (C W Wong). Before being allowed to race again, SUPER CAGA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. The Veterinary Officer reported that BILLION GAINS, which was kicked by another runner in the area of the left shoulder, was examined at the Start and found to be suitable to race. SUPREME GENKI began awkwardly. BILLION GAINS and BUDDY BUDDIES were slow to begin. Shortly after the start, FIERY PATROL was steadied when crowded for room between RADIOMARELLI and DANZULU which was taken in by PUBLIC FIGURE. DANZULU was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Near the 1100 Metres, G-ONE WINNING was shifted away from the heels of JADE CHRISTY (Z Purton) which shifted in when not properly clear. Z Purton was advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances. After improving towards the outside of BUDDY BUDDIES rounding the Home Turn, DANZULU was shifted to the inside of the heels of that horse at the entrance to the Straight after BUDDY BUDDIES shifted wider to obtain clear running. SUPREME GENKI was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight. Approaching the 200 Metres, JADE CHRISTY got its head on the side and hung in under pressure. Over the concluding stages, BRAVE HEART got its head on the side and shifted in. Throughout the race, PUBLIC FIGURE travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SIMPLE, Y T Cheng stated that the horse, which was attempting the 1400 Metres for the first occasion, proved difficult to settle for a short distance near the 1200 Metres. He said however that after this SIMPLE settled better in the run and although racing in a three wide position was able to obtain cover. He said he asked SIMPLE to improve after the 500 Metres and the horse initially responded well when pressured. He added however that in the Straight SIMPLE finished off the race only one-paced. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that DANZULU had lost its right hind plate. A veterinary inspection of BUDDY BUDDIES and SIMPLE after the race did not show any significant findings. G-ONE WINNING and RADIOMARELLI were sent for sampling.
