MAGIC KING was slow to begin. SHANGHAI PIONEER shifted in at the start and made heavy contact with the hindquarters of HEY HA MASTER, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. Shortly after the start, ASTROKID shifted in and was steadied away from the heels of BINGO BINGO. Near the 1100 Metres, ASTROKID got its head up and proved difficult to settle when being checked away from the heels of TURIN CHAMPION which was steadied to obtain cover behind BINGO BINGO. Shortly after entering the Straight, ASTROKID, which was held up for clear running, was steadied away from the heels of SHANGHAI PIONEER which shifted out in an attempt to find clear running. Passing the 300 Metres, SHANGHAI PIONEER, when being shifted out, was held up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of RUN TO WIN and HERO AND GOLD. Approaching the 100 Metres, FAST INTENTIONS was awkwardly placed inside HEY HA MASTER and outside the heels of MARVEL PLUS which shifted out slightly. After this, FAST INTENTIONS got its head up, lay in and proved difficult to ride. Over the final 100 Metres, ASTROKID had difficulty obtaining clear running. Near the 50 Metres, METRO RIDER was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of TURIN CHAMPION which shifted in. Throughout the race, HERO AND GOLD travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of MAGIC KING after the race showed a mild amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea. A veterinary inspection of BINGO BINGO after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, BINGO BINGO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SHANGHAI PIONEER and TURIN CHAMPION were sent for sampling.
