Steward Report Predict Pace Map
On arrival at the Start, it was noted that MANY GAINS had lost its left front plate. This plate was refitted. MANY GAINS was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. SUPREME TAIJI stood flat-footed at the start and lost a considerable amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, SUPREME TAIJI will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. HAPPY YEAH YEAH began awkwardly. From wide barriers, SMART GUY and TURF MAGIC were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Passing the 900 Metres, XILAI XIANZI was crowded for room inside KEEN MARIE which itself was taken in by MANY GAINS (Apprentice C Y Ho) which shifted in. Apprentice Ho was advised to ensure that he leaves sufficient racing room for runners to his inside in future. Near the 850 Metres, ALL FRIENDS got its head on the side and shifted in and in doing so made contact with SUPREME TAIJI, causing both horses to become unbalanced. After the 800 Metres, MANY GAINS was left racing wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. Shortly after entering the Straight, ALL FRIENDS was momentarily steadied away from the heels of XILAI XIANZI which shifted out to obtain clear running. When questioned, T Angland stated that he had been instructed to ride ELUSIVE PRINCE in a forward position. He said after beginning only fairly he rode his mount along in the early stages to take up a forward position as instructed. He said however it soon became apparent that he would not be able to clear horses to his inside without having to make considerable use of ELUSIVE PRINCE, therefore he elected, after the 800 Metres, to shift ELUSIVE PRINCE in to obtain a position with cover behind MANY GAINS. He added that had he not been able to clear horses to his inside, ELUSIVE PRINCE would have been required to travel very wide. He said for these reasons ELUSIVE PRINCE raced further back tonight than had been intended. He said after following MANY GAINS throughout the race, he shifted out from behind that horse approaching the 400 Metres as it was not taking him into the race as he would have wanted. He said after making the Home Turn awkwardly ELUSIVE PRINCE finished off the race only fairly. A veterinary inspection of ELUSIVE PRINCE after the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of MANY GAINS after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, MANY GAINS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. XILAI XIANZI, HAPPY YEAH YEAH and SUPER PLUS were sent for sampling. <5/1/2011 Additional Veterinary Report> MANY GAINS, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. MANY GAINS was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer C Fownes this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the left front leg. As previously advised, MANY GAINS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
