Shortly after the start, FAST FORWARD was steadied when crowded for room between FATBOY SUGAR and FLYING SMART which got its head on the side and shifted out away from MASTER TOUCH. DIAMOND KNIGHT was slow to begin. Near the 1000 Metres FATBOY SUGAR was steadied and lost ground when crowded for room inside PERFECT FIT (M Chadwick) which shifted in. M Chadwick was severely reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in future. Approaching the 600 Metres, FAST FORWARD commenced to over-race and then lost ground when checked away from the heels of GREAT ACHIEVEMENT. CENTURY SUPER STAR, which was following, was checked to avoid the heels of FAST FORWARD and shifted out. Rounding the Home Turn, FATBOY SUGAR and SOLAR UP raced tight. Close to the finishing line, GREAT ACHIEVEMENT was bumped by CENTURY SUPER STAR which improved into tight running between that horse and SHINING TRIUMPH. In the Straight, FATBOY SUGAR hung out and proved difficult to ride. Throughout the race, GLENEALY STAR travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground and finished tailed out. The performance of GLENEALY STAR was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, GLENEALY STAR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Also throughout the race, FLYING SMART travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of MASTER TOUCH after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. SHINING TRIUMPH, SKY MASCOT and FAST FORWARD were sent for sampling.
