As the start was effected, CARTHAGE reared and lost ground. MIGHTY HIGH was crowded for room at the start between SUPER PISTACHIO and ENDLESS LUCK which shifted out. Passing the 1700 Metres, CARTHAGE, which had been ridden along to improve its position after beginning slowly, was checked when crowded for room inside ENDLESS LUCK (T Angland) which shifted in. T Angland was severely reprimanded and advised that in similar circumstances he should ensure that he is sufficiently clear prior to shifting ground. After the 1400 Metres, OSVALDO was left racing wide and without cover. The performance of OSVALDO, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, OSVALDO will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. At the entrance to the Straight, OSVALDO, which was giving ground, became badly unbalanced when tightened for room between IRIAN and SHIFACHI TRADITION which shifted out slightly. At the 400 Metres, COLLECTION was shifted to the inside of the heels of KING DANCER to improve. The Stewards deferred the declaration of weighed-in as they were of the prima facie view that an incident occurred near the 200 Metres which cast doubt on whether SUPER SATIN should be declared the 4th placegetter of the race. After viewing the videos, a protest/objection on behalf of the connections of COLLECTION, 5th placegetter, was not proceeded with. The Stewards found that passing the 200 Metres COLLECTION was checked when disappointed for running between PACKING WINNER which shifted out slightly and KING DANCER which was taken in marginally by SUPER SATIN which at this time had its head on the side and was shifting in away from IRIAN. As the Stewards were not of the view that COLLECTION had established proper running between PACKING WINNER and KING DANCER, no further action was taken. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on COLLECTION at the request of the trainer. The Veterinary Officer reported that this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, COLLECTION will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. COLLECTION, IRIAN and PACKING WINNER were sent for sampling.
