At declaration time, Apprentice C Y Ho was declared as the rider of both NOBLE FLIER and SPARKLING FEELING. It was established that Apprentice Ho had a firm commitment to ride SPARKLING FEELING. As such, the Stewards permitted Apprentice M L Yeung to be substituted as the rider of NOBLE FLIER. For this declaration error, Apprentice Ho was fined $2,000. SPARKLING FEELING was slow to begin. Near the 600 Metres, WADASURPRISE was steadied away from the heels of SPARKLING FEELING. The performance of LUCKY MARBLE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY MARBLE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When questioned, Apprentice C Y Ho stated that SPARKLING FEELING travelled well until rounding the Home Turn. He said in the early part of the Straight SPARKLING FEELING became unbalanced after bumping with WADASURPRISE and after this did not respond to his riding as he thought it would given the conditions. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY MARBLE and SPARKLING FEELING after the race did not show any significant findings. LUFENG FORTUNE and SOHNA were sent for sampling.
