On arrival at the Start, Jockey W C Marwing expressed concern over the action of QUELLE SURPRISE. QUELLE SURPRISE was examined by the Veterinary Officer who, after the necessary consultations, advised that the horse was suitable to race. From wide draws, MASTER GUNNER and ELECTRONIC MASTER were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Throughout the race, ISTIDE travelled wide and without cover. Passing the 400 Metres, TOY STORY, which was held up, was checked away from the heels of MY WHISKY which commenced to give ground. Near the 350 Metres, FARM LEGEND was bumped on a number of occasions by ROYAL PUMPKIN which shifted to the outside of EJIMERIC TE SPECSO into clear running. Over the final 200 Metres, FARM LEGEND got its head on the side and hung in. Over the concluding stages, LUNAR REFLECTIONS was steadied when crowded for room between LOMBARDI which shifted in and ISTIDE which was taken out slightly by ROMA THUNDER. When questioned regarding the performance of EJIMERIC TE SPECSO, D Whyte stated that he was able to overcome his wide draw in the early stages and obtain a position following MY WHISKY. He said shortly after entering the Straight he shifted EJIMERIC TE SPECSO to the outside of that horse, however, EJIMERIC TE SPECSO did not quicken as he thought it would and was disappointing in the manner in which it failed to close off the race. A veterinary inspection of TOY STORY and EJIMERIC TE SPECSO after the race did not show any significant findings. EJIMERIC TE SPECSO, FARM LEGEND and ROYAL PUMPKIN were sent for sampling.
