Steward Report Predict Pace Map
Passing the 900 Metres, STAR SON shifted in away from MERRY WAY and became unbalanced. Approaching the first turn, GLOBAL WIN (C W Wong) became unbalanced and shifted out abruptly, resulting in MERRY WAY being crowded for room to the inside of SOARING RIVER. Then near the 600 Metres, GLOBAL WIN faltered, became badly unbalanced and lost a considerable amount of ground. After this, GLOBAL WIN was eased down. STAR SON, which was following GLOBAL WIN, was severely checked away from the heels of that horse and was forced across the heels of FLYING CHINA. FLYING CHINA, which was racing to the outside of GLOBAL WIN, was shifted out, resulting in CHATER POWER and HIGH AIM being hampered and taken wider. C W Wong stated that he was unable to offer any explanation for the racing manners of GLOBAL WIN in these incidents as no other horse had had a bearing on the manner in which GLOBAL WIN was travelling. A veterinary inspection of GLOBAL WIN after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. The Veterinary Officer also reported that the horse had lost its right hind plate. The racing manners of GLOBAL WIN were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, GLOBAL WIN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a series of consecutive official barrier trials around a bend and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. In the Straight, MERRY WAY got its head on the side and hung out. The performance of KING ACRYLIC, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, KING ACRYLIC will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Apprentice K C Leung (HIGH AIM) reported that a short distance after the start his saddle shifted to the right which placed him at a significant disadvantage until rounding the first turn at which time he was able to correct the position of his saddle. He said however that due to the saddle rolling in the early stages, HIGH AIM raced wide and without cover throughout. When questioned, M Chadwick (PERFECT FIT) stated that the instructions tonight were as usual, that being to have the horse race where it was comfortable. He said PERFECT FIT began well and then travelled into a forward position without having to be made use of. He said when racing outside of DESTINY’S CHILD in the lead, PERFECT FIT raced keenly. He said for this reason PERFECT FIT was not able to finish off the race in the Straight as it had done at its previous starts. A veterinary inspection of DESTINY’S CHILD after the race did not show any significant findings. PERFECT FIT, FLYING CHINA and HAR HAR CHARMS were sent for sampling.
