After being loaded, BINGO KEY became fractious and momentarily sat down. BINGO KEY was removed from the stalls and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, BINGO KEY will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. SOUNDS EXCELLENT was slow to begin. LOTS OF FUN began awkwardly. Near the 850 Metres, MY MELODY and BINGO KEY were crowded for room by SOUNDS EXCELLENT (D Whyte) which , despite the efforts of its rider, got its head on the side and shifted in abruptly away from GOUF. As the Stewards were of the opinion that D Whyte had made every endeavour to prevent the tightening to his inside, no further action was taken. LOTS OF FUN, which was following BINGO KEY, was steadied in consequence. In the middle stages, GOUF got its head on the side and hung out. Rounding the Home Turn, SOUNDS EXCELLENT was steadied away from the heels of GOUF when shifted out to obtain clear running. Both WIND DAMPER and LUCKY AMICI travelled wide and without cover throughout the race. A veterinary inspection of GOUF after the race did not show any significant findings. SOUNDS EXCELLENT, FOREST STAR and BE MY SONG were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that HOT ASSET was noted to be making an abnormal breathing noise. He said HOT ASSET had previously been reported to be a “roarer”.
