REAL SPECIALIST was checked on jumping when crowded for room between HELENE SPIRIT and GOLD-FUN which shifted out after beginning awkwardly. In this incident, REAL SPECIALIST made heavy contact with the hindquarters of HELENE SPIRIT, causing that horse to become badly unbalanced and to shift out, resulting in MEINER LACRIMA being crowded for room inside MSHAWISH. HELENE SPIRIT lost its left front plate soon after the start. From wide barriers, GORDON LORD BYRON and ABLE FRIEND were taken across behind runners in the early stages. On a number of occasions between near the 1000 Metres and the 900 Metres, GORDON LORD BYRON and ABLE FRIEND bumped as a result of ABLE FRIEND (J Moreira) shifting in. J Moreira was severely reprimanded and advised that his riding of ABLE FRIEND during this part of the race bordered on breaching a significant Rule of Racing. He was advised that whilst the Stewards encourage competitive riding, he must ride his mounts in such a manner so as to ensure that undue pressure is not placed upon other runners. After the 900 Metres, ZAIDAN became unbalanced after shifting in and making contact with the rail. GOLD-FUN lost its right hind plate near the 650 Metres. After the 600 Metres, GLORIOUS DAYS and FLAME HERO raced tight as GLORIOUS DAYS shifted out. Then rounding the Home Turn, FLAME HERO became unbalanced after being bumped by GLORIOUS DAYS which shifted out to improve its position. For the majority of the race, DAN EXCEL travelled wide and without cover. The performance of ZAIDAN, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, ZAIDAN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. VARIETY CLUB and ABLE FRIEND were sent for sampling.
