GENUINE CHAMPION was withdrawn on 8.3.14 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter TURIN CHAMPION (Z Purton). DEHERE’S THE LOVE was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (colic). Before being allowed to race again, GENUINE CHAMPION and DEHERE’S THE LOVE will both be subjected to an official veterinary examination. REGENCY LUCK began awkwardly and knuckled over at the start. In this incident, REGENCY LUCK lost its left front plate. SEMPITERNAL began awkwardly. Shortly after the start, CLANCY AVENUE was steadied away from the heels of TOUCH GO which shifted in. Approaching the 900 Metres, CLANCY AVENUE was momentarily crowded for room inside TURIN PEARL (O Doleuze) which was immediately shifted out to relieve the tightening to CLANCY AVENUE. O Doleuze was advised to exercise more care in future. Making the first turn approaching the 700 Metres, TURIN CHAMPION was checked when crowded for room between TOUCH GO and RUMBA KING (D Whyte) which shifted in. HIGHEST ACCLAIM and GENUINE LEADER, which were following, were hampered in consequence. D Whyte was severely reprimanded and advised that whilst he had made an effort to prevent RUMBA KING from shifting in, the Stewards were of the view that he should have made a greater effort than he did on this occasion and at the earliest opportunity to prevent the horse from causing interference. Near the 500 Metres, DANEWIN TIGER got its head up and was awkwardly placed inside the heels of GENUINE LEADER. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of HIGHEST ACCLAIM, C Y Ho stated that he had been instructed to lead on the horse if possible. He said in accordance with his instructions he rode his mount aggressively in the early stages, however, HIGHEST ACCLAIM failed to muster speed and was obliged to race further back in the field than had been hoped. He said HIGHEST ACCLAIM was never on the bridle in the early stages and after striking interference making the first turn did not travel comfortably. He added despite riding the horse along throughout the race, HIGHEST ACCLAIM did not quicken at any stage and, in his opinion, was disappointing. A veterinary inspection of HIGHEST ACCLAIM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of GENUINE LEADER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. TURIN PEARL and REGENCY LUCK were sent for sampling. <10/3/2014 Additional Veterinary Reports>The Veterinary Officer reported that TURIN CHAMPION was found to be lame in its left front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, TURIN CHAMPION will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
