BERNARD’S CHOICE was withdrawn on 18.1.13 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (stiff action both hind) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter ARCHER’S BOW (T Queally). Before being allowed to race again, BERNARD’S CHOICE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of PRINCIPAL, which was restless whilst being saddled, found that horse to be suitable to race. MR GNOCCHI was bumped by LOVELY BOY which shifted out on jumping. PRINCIPAL began awkwardly and then despite being ridden along failed to muster speed. Shortly after the start, MAN AND MING was awkwardly placed close to the heels of ALL MY GLORY when shifted across behind that horse. From wide barriers, both FLYING IBIS and ARCHER’S BOW were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Passing the 1100 Metres, PACKING DE LAGO raced in restricted room inside JOYFUL LUCK which got its head on the side and shifted in away from the heels of DRAGON KEEPER. After this, JOYFUL LUCK proved difficult to settle for some distance. After the 800 Metres, ALL MY GLORY got its head on the side and hung out. ALL MY GLORY, which travelled wide and without cover throughout the race, continued to hang out badly until after entering the Home Straight. Before being allowed to race again, ALL MY GLORY will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend. After the 400 Metres, BERLINSKI was held up for clear running. Over the concluding stages, ARCHER’S BOW was awkwardly placed behind MAN AND MING and PACKING DE LAGO. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that LOVELY BOY had lost its left front plate. BERLINSKI and TAYSIDE were sent for sampling.
