LUCKY ARMY began awkwardly. SUNSHINE BOY was slow to begin. DR UNION shifted out at the start, resulting in GLOBAL FAME being inconvenienced. Near the 1200 Metres, FASTPLUS MASTER was momentarily awkwardly placed outside the heels of METREVELLI. Approaching the 400 Metres, NEWSWIRE TOO was steadied when disappointed for running between DR UNION and FASTPLUS MASTER which shifted out. GLOBAL FAME was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and near the 250 Metres shifted in and bumped SUNSHINE BOY. When being shifted to the outside of runners after the 400 Metres, POLYGOLD was held up for clear running until passing the 350 Metres. For some distance after the 200 Metres, GLOBAL FAME was steadied when disappointed for running between FASTPLUS MASTER which shifted in marginally and SUNSHINE BOY which was taken out slightly by JUST GOOD which shifted away from the heels of LUCKY TYCOON as that horse was giving ground. As the Stewards were satisfied that there was no rider error involved in this incident, no further action was taken. Throughout the race, LOTUS LOVE travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of CLASSIC FIGURE after the race revealed the horse to have bled from both nostrils. A veterinary inspection of METREVELLI after the race did not show any significant findings. GLOBAL FAME, LOTUS LOVE and JUST GOOD were sent for sampling.
