PERFECT JOY and BROTHERS IN ARMS bumped at the start. After this, BROTHERS IN ARMS was vigorously ridden, however, failed to muster speed. From wide barriers, LUCKY TYCOON and STAR OF FAME were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Approaching the 400 Metres, BROTHERS IN ARMS was bumped by PERFECT JOY which shifted out. NOBODY BUT YOU and O’HALO bumped passing the 350 Metres as NOBODY BUT YOU attempted to obtain clear running. After being unable to secure running between O’HALO and EXPEDITE, NOBODY BUT YOU then was unable to obtain clear running until passing the 200 Metres. K C Leung (BELIEVE IN CHANCE) was fined a sum of $5,000 for dropping his whip near the 200 Metres. After having considered Jockey Leung’s poor record in respect of retaining his whip in races, the Stewards placed him on notice that should there not be an improvement in this aspect of his riding, they would give consideration in the future to imposing a more substantive penalty should he be found to again drop his whip in a race. For the majority of the race, O’HALO travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of EXPEDITE after the race revealed that the horse had sustained multiple small cuts to both hind legs. A veterinary inspection of PERFECT JOY and BROTHERS IN ARMS after the race did not show any significant findings. BROTHERS IN ARMS, WHAT A HEART and O’HALO were sent for sampling.
