CHATER MIKADO was withdrawn on 4.4.11 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (colic) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter BET ON ME (H W Lai). Before being allowed to race again, CHATER MIKADO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CAT STORM was slow to begin. TOPPING LIGHT began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped GLENEALY STAR. Passing the 800 Metres, CAT STORM proved difficult to settle. Shortly after entering into the Straight, TURF MAGIC was shifted to the inside of GLENEALY STAR when disappointed for running between that horse and FIRST IN COMMAND. FLYING CHINA, which was closing off the race, was unable to obtain clear running over the concluding stages and because of this was not ridden out to the end of the race. For the majority of the race, FIRST IN COMMAND travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of GLENEALY STAR, B Prebble stated that his mount travelled satisfactorily throughout the run, however, in the Straight was disappointing in the manner in which it gave ground. A veterinary inspection of GLENEALY STAR after the race did not show any significant findings. When questioned, Mr C K Chung stated that he had been instructed by Mr P F Yiu, the trainer of BET ON ME, that the horse should be ridden quietly due to the wide barrier. The Stewards will speak with Mr Yiu, who was not present in Hong Kong tonight, about this matter prior to the first race at Sha Tin on Saturday, 9 April 2011. FLYING COLOURS and ABLE SPEED were sent for sampling.
