IMAGINATION and EPEE DE HUA were slow to begin. After this, EPEE DE HUA was ridden along to take up a more forward position, however, throughout the race travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. Approaching and passing the 1000 Metres, GOLD JOINT proved difficult to settle when being steadied away from the heels of GRANDFIELD. Approaching the 600 Metres, BERNINI was steadied away from the heels of GUNNER MAC which shifted in. Passing the 200 Metres, HUA SHI was steadied and shifted to the outside of GOLD JOINT when disappointed for running between that horse and BERNINI, both of which shifted ground. After passing the 100 Metres, M Guyon (GOLD JOINT) dropped his whip. Throughout the race, GLOBAL RULER travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of GLOBAL RULER after the race did not show any significant findings other than the horse had sustained a cut to the outside of the right front heel. GRANDFIELD and GOLD JOINT were sent for sampling.
