LOTUS LOVE shifted out at the start and bumped MACHO EXPRESSO. MAKE IT was checked at the start when crowded for room between BULLISH WIN which was taken out by ROMANCING TAMAR and BULB TREASURE which shifted in. After the 1000 Metres, BULB TREASURE was left racing wide and without cover. MY WAY was held up for clear running and unable to improve its position rounding the Home Turn. In the early part of the Straight, MAKE IT was held up for clear running when unable to improve between BULB TREASURE and MACHO EXPRESSO, both of which shifted ground. Near the 200 Metres, KUNG HEI FAT CHOI was checked away from the heels of BULLISH WIN which at this time shifted in slightly when giving ground. Near the 50 Metres, the whip of Apprentice T H So (LOTUS LOVE) was knocked from his grasp by the whip of Apprentice C Y Ho (JOLLY WONGCHOY). Over the concluding stages, JOLLY WONGCHOY raced in restricted room between LOTUS LOVE and UNIQUE SPEED. Also over the concluding stages, MY WAY raced close to the heels of JOLLY WONGCHOY and for this reason was not ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be. In the Straight, LOTUS LOVE got its head on the side and lay in. Whilst the riding of B Doyle (MAKE IT) over the concluding stages did not affect the horse’s finishing position, he was nonetheless reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels where circumstances permit. W C Marwing (ROMANCING TAMAR) stated that he had been instructed to try and take up a forward position if possible. He said after making contact with BULLISH WIN on a number of occasions shortly after the start, he was very wide with a number of horses racing to his inside approaching the winning post on the first occasion. He said rather than be left racing unnecessarily wide, he elected to steady his mount and attempt to obtain a position in midfield passing the winning post on the first occasion. He said however that when still caught wide passing the 1200 Metres, he then elected to further steady ROMANCING TAMAR to save ground and this resulted in the horse racing much further back in the field than had been anticipated. JOLLY WONGCHOY, UNIQUE SPEED and LOTUS LOVE were sent for sampling.
