SOLAR BOY proved difficult to saddle up, resulting in the start being delayed. Trainer L Ho was advised a warning would be placed on the raceday manners of SOLAR BOY in respect of being saddled up. After being loaded, GREAT FANTASY became fractious. Before being allowed to race again, GREAT FANTASY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. From wide barriers, FUN HEROES and EURO POWER were taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Also shortly after the start, SUPER GALILEO was crowded for room between HOT ASSET and YUAN’S FORTUNE which, after initially being taken in by SPLENDID SAILS, then shifted in and away from that horse. At the 1100 Metres, HOT ASSET became unbalanced when racing between SOLAR BOY and YUAN’S FORTUNE. Rounding the first turn, YUAN’S FORTUNE was steadied away from the heels of DR WIN (D Whyte) which shifted in when not quite clear. D Whyte was severely reprimanded and advised to ensure he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in future. After this, YUAN’S FORTUNE shifted out abruptly away from the heels of DR WIN and in doing so shifted out across the heels of WIND DAMPER, resulting in YUAN’S FORTUNE being severely checked. SONOFTHEWEST, which was following, was checked in consequence. As the Stewards formed the view that this incident was as a result of the racing manners of YUAN’S FORTUNE which was wearing blinkers for the first time today, no action was taken. When YUAN’S FORTUNE shifted back in, SOLAR BOY was steadied away from the heels of that horse. A short distance later, SOLAR BOY commenced to over-race and shifted out abruptly when awkwardly placed close to the heels of YUAN’S FORTUNE, resulting in SONOFTHEWEST, HOT ASSET, SPLENDID SAILS and GLOBAL RULER all being hampered and taken wider. SOLAR BOY continued to be awkwardly placed close to the heels of YUAN’S FORTUNE for some distance after this incident. Rounding the Home Turn, TOUCH LUCKY became unbalanced when close to the heels of SOLAR BOY. At the entrance to the Straight, WIND DAMPER was crowded for room between DR WIN and YUAN’S FORTUNE, both of which shifted ground slightly. In the early part of the Straight, TOUCH LUCKY was steadied across the heels of HOT ASSET. Then near the 350 Metres, TOUCH LUCKY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of GLOBAL RULER. In the Straight, FUN HEROES got its head on the side, lay out and proved difficult to ride. DR WIN and WIND DAMPER were sent for sampling.
