ENERGETIC BOY was withdrawn on 13.5.08 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (post-race stress) and was replaced by first Standby Declared Starter FANTASTIC WIN (H W Lai). RISING WIN was also withdrawn on 13.5.08 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by second Standby Declared Starter FABULOUS TREASURE (Apprentice K L Chui). Before being allowed to race again, ENERGETIC BOY and RISING WIN will both be subjected to an official veterinary examination. On jumping, MACAROON got its head up and was then taken back. At the start, FABULOUS TREASURE was crowded for room between LEADER and WINNING PATTERN. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, LEADER was steadied when crowded for room inside KAISER’S CHOIX which got its head on the side and shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. FANTASTIC WIN, which was following, was steadied in consequence. As KAISER’S CHOIX shifted out to relieve this pressure, some inconvenience was caused to SIXTY SECONDS which was steadied. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, KAISER’S CHOIX, which was hanging in, became unbalanced when tightened for room inside FRAMES DEPOT which shifted in. At the 500 Metres, LEADER got its head on the side and hung out. Rounding the Home Turn, TOUCH DOWN bumped the running rail when racing tight inside MACAROON which was awkwardly placed inside the heels of FABULOUS TREASURE. No action was taken. For some distance after straightening, KAISER’S CHOIX had difficulty obtaining clear running inside BATURO. After the 200 Metres, CAPABILITY was shifted wider to obtain clear running. Also after the 200 Metres, LEADER was brushed by SIXTY SECONDS which shifted in. After this, LEADER hung in and proved difficult to ride. LEADER was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. MACAROON was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of LEADER and MACAROON after the race did not show any significant findings. FANTASTIC WIN and BATURO were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported SIXTY SECONDS had lost its right hind plate. Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 15 May 2008) LEADER, which performed poorly, was examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison. He said at that time there were no significant findings. LEADER was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer C H Yip this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, LEADER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
