INDUSTRIAL MARVEL and EASY GAME were slow to begin. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, ROMANTIC GREEN hung in. In the early part of the Straight, MAGIC TEMPLE was shifted to the outside of SHANGDONG GENERAL into clear running. At the 200 Metres, GENERAL DANSKE, which was giving ground, was bumped by PICKETT which was carried out slightly by ONE WORLD. Over the concluding stages, CHATER POWER hung out and after the 100 Metres shifted ground, causing some tightening to PICKETT. At about the 50 Metres, ONE WORLD became unbalanced. Throughout the race, GENERAL DANSKE travelled wide and without cover. G Mossé (SHANGDONG GENERAL) said from the outside barrier he had been asked to go forward on the horse. He said accordingly he rode along in the early stages, however, approaching the turn at the 700 Metres when it became apparent to him that he was going to be wide, he endeavoured to find a position with cover. He said making the turn at the 700 Metres SHANGDONG GENERAL hung out, then in the Straight did not respond to his riding and was a well beaten horse shortly after straightening. SHANGDONG GENERAL and GENERAL DANSKE were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SHANGDONG GENERAL after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, GENERAL DANSKE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, GENERAL DANSKE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. KIMBO KID and PICKETT were sent for sampling.
