TURIN MASCOT was withdrawn on 24.4.23 by order of the Stewards (stable transfer) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter MAJESTIC VICTORY. CELESTIAL POWER jumped only fairly and shortly after the start was crowded by SMILING TIME which shifted in and away from BULLETPROOF. TIANCHI MONSTER was crowded for room shortly after the start between FLYING SILVER and YOUNG BRILLIANT which shifted in. TIANCHI MONSTER was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages. From the outside barrier, ROUND THE EARTH was also shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Over the final 150 Metres, BULLETPROOF was held up for clear running and could not be fully tested to the finish of the event. Near the 125 Metres, V Borges (YOUNG BRILLIANT) dropped his left rein for a short distance. Near the 100 Metres, TIANCHI MONSTER improved into a narrow run between SATIRICAL GLORY and YOUNG BRILLIANT and then raced in restricted room thereafter to the finish of the event. In this incident, TIANCHI MONSTER and YOUNG BRILLIANT made contact on a number of occasions. After the race, A Badel (CELESTIAL POWER), which tailed out and was eased down from the event, reported that his mount was making an abnormal breathing noise during the race. A veterinary inspection of CELESTIAL POWER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of CELESTIAL POWER was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, CELESTIAL POWER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination which must include additional diagnostic assessments. Also after the race, M F Poon (FLYING SILVER) reported that, in his opinion, his mount may not have appreciated the step-up in class for tonight’s event. A veterinary inspection of FLYING SILVER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of SATIRICAL GLORY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. SATIRICAL GLORY, LA CITY BLANCHE and MAJESTIC VICTORY were sent for sampling.
