PRINCE ALEX and MAJESTIC VICTORY bumped at the start.
HAPPY DAILY shifted out on jumping and bumped CASA COSMO. After this, HAPPY DAILY and CASA COSMO were shifted across behind runners to obtain a position closer to the rail.
From wide barriers, INCANTO PREPARED and CAPTAIN WIN were also shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
RED MAJESTY travelled wide and without cover until near the 850 Metres at which point PRINCE ALEX was left racing wide and without cover. When left racing wide and without cover, PRINCE ALEX commenced to travel keenly and got its head up after laying in towards the heels of ALL BEAUTY.
Making the turn after the 600 Metres, PRINCE ALEX was taken wider by ALL BEAUTY which shifted out from behind E LEGEND.
Approaching and passing the 400 Metres, HAPPY DAILY was held up behind RED MAJESTY which came under pressure. Then at the entrance to the Straight, HAPPY DAILY was shifted out away from the heels of MAJESTIC VICTORY. Approaching the 200 Metres, HAPPY DAILY raced tight inside the heels of E LEGEND.
After the 400 Metres, CASA COSMO was shifted to the outside of PRINCE ALEX after being held up for clear running behind that horse.
In the early part of the Straight, CAPTAIN WIN was held up for clear running and passing the 300 Metres bumped PRAGMATISM when being shifted to the inside of RED MAJESTY to obtain clear running. Then near the 250 Metres, CAPTAIN WIN got its head on the side and lay out and brushed RED MAJESTY.
Approaching the 50 Metres, BULLETPROOF raced tight inside PRINCE ALEX which shifted in under pressure.
When questioned regarding the performance of DYNAMIC SPIRIT, Z Purton stated that DYNAMIC SPIRIT travelled keenly in the early stages. He said after crossing E LEGEND passing the 1300 Metres to obtain the lead, DYNAMIC SPIRIT then commenced to prove very difficult to settle when challenged by MAJESTIC VICTORY and RED MAJESTY approaching and passing the 1100 Metres when the race was being run at a good tempo. He said DYNAMIC SPIRIT would not relax with horses racing to its outside and it was not until after the 900 Metres when RED MAJESTY was steadied by its rider outside DYNAMIC SPIRIT that his mount commenced to travel more kindly. He added however that because of the manner in which DYNAMIC SPIRIT raced in the early and middle stages and the tempo of the race at the relevant time, the horse was then not able to finish the race off in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of DYNAMIC SPIRIT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
