BRIGHT KID stood flat-footed as the start was effected and lost a considerable amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, BRIGHT KID will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial. FIERY FLYING began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped DARCI JOY. SMOOTHIES shifted out at the start and bumped YOUNG EXPLORER which was then crowded for room inside ROCKPAPERSCISSORS which became unbalanced after being bumped by YOUNG EXPLORER. KASI FARASI, which was leaning on the outside of its gate as the start was effected, began awkwardly. From wide barriers, FLYING MIGHTY, TURQUOISE ALPHA, ARTHUR’S KINGDOM and FOREVER GLORIOUS were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages to obtain cover. After the 1100 Metres, FOREVER GLORIOUS was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 400 Metres, PRESIDENT’S CHOICE lay in and was momentarily awkwardly placed outside the heels of OSCAR GLORY. After the race, Z Purton stated that ROCKPAPERSCISSORS’ condition gave out in the Straight racing over 1600 Metres first up for the season. He said whilst ROCKPAPERSCISSORS did not run on in today’s race, he believed that it would improve for the race. A veterinary inspection of ROCKPAPERSCISSORS immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported. PRESIDENT’S CHOICE, OSCAR GLORY and KASI FARASI were sent for sampling.
