As the start was effected, MIDORI BEAUTY got its head up and then lifted its front feet off the ground, resulting in the horse being slow to begin. SPARKLING KNIGHT and MR MAJESTIC were crowded for room on jumping between NABOO LEGEND and GLORIOUS STARLIGHT, both of which shifted ground. After travelling a short distance, GLORIOUS STARLIGHT raced tight between POWER KOEPP and MR MAJESTIC which itself was racing tight outside SPARKLING KNIGHT which got its head on the side and lay out. Passing the 1100 Metres, CALIFORNIA VANES and LUCKY EIGHT bumped. Approaching the 900 Metres, LUCKY EIGHT and MR MAJESTIC raced tight as LUCKY EIGHT shifted in. Approaching the 700 Metres, NABOO LEGEND raced tight inside HAPPY SHARING when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SPARKLING KNIGHT. Then passing the 700 Metres, NABOO LEGEND shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of HAPPY SHARING. Passing the 500 Metres, GLORIOUS STARLIGHT was steadied away from the heels of MR MAJESTIC. GLORIOUS STARLIGHT then had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. MR MAJESTIC was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and passing the 300 Metres was shifted to the outside of LUCKY EIGHT when unable to improve into tight running between that horse and NABOO LEGEND which shifted out. MR MAJESTIC then had difficulty obtaining clear running and after the 150 Metres was steadied when held up behind LUCKY EIGHT and inside CALIFORNIA VANES. MR MAJESTIC was then shifted to the outside of CALIFORNIA VANES approaching the 50 Metres to obtain clear running. Because of these incidents, MR MAJESTIC was not able to be properly tested. Passing the 100 Metres, MIDORI BEAUTY shifted out abruptly under pressure, resulting in its rider having to stop riding and straighten. MIDORI BEAUTY then continued to lay out before shifting in over the concluding stages. Throughout the race, CALIFORNIA VANES travelled wide and without cover. After the race, C Y Ho reported that NABOO LEGEND appeared reluctant to stretch out when racing amongst runners. A veterinary inspection of NABOO LEGEND immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. Before being allowed to race again, NABOO LEGEND will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HAPPY SHARING and MIDORI BEAUTY were sent for sampling.
