NORDIC WARRIOR was slow to begin. E SPRINTER began only fairly and then was brushed by G ONE EXCELLENT which on jumping was bumped by MERIDIAN GENIUS which shifted in. FORTUNE CARRIER shifted in at the start and bumped THETA HEDGE, resulting in THETA HEDGE being crowded for room outside MOON PEAKS and FORTUNE CARRIER becoming unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by THETA HEDGE. SO AWESOME began awkwardly, shifted out at the start and bumped SMART IDEA. After this, from a wide barrier, SO AWESOME was shifted across behind runners. From the outside barrier, SHOWINA was also steadied in the early stages to obtain cover. Near the 1150 Metres, FORTUNE CARRIER was bumped by THETA HEDGE as FORTUNE CARRIER was being steadied to obtain cover behind that horse. Making the turn near the 1050 Metres, FORTUNE CARRIER and G ONE EXCELLENT bumped. Passing the 1000 Metres, SMART IDEA, which was racing wide, was awkwardly placed outside the heels of MERIDIAN GENIUS when being steadied to obtain cover. SINGAPORE SPIRIT (J Moreira) travelled wide and without cover until near the 600 Metres at which time the horse was shifted across to race outside the lead. When SINGAPORE SPIRIT shifted in, FORTUNE CARRIER was then left racing wide and without cover. After the race, J Moreira stated that due to the amount of work that he had to make of SINGAPORE SPIRIT in the early and middle stages to avoid racing wide, the horse was then not able to finish off the race in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of SINGAPORE SPIRIT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. E SPRINTER made the turn after the 600 Metres awkwardly, shifted out and brushed G ONE EXCELLENT. G ONE EXCELLENT was then very awkwardly placed close to the heels of MOON PEAKS approaching and passing the 500 Metres. SO AWESOME, which was following G ONE EXCELLENT, was shifted in away from the heels of that horse after the 500 Metres. At the entrance to the Straight, SO AWESOME was shifted in away from the heels of MOON PEAKS. In the early part of the Straight, LORIZ got its head on the side and shifted out. Passing the 200 Metres, SINGAPORE SPIRIT raced tight outside THETA HEDGE which shifted out. SINGAPORE SPIRIT was then crowded for room over the concluding stages between FORTUNE CARRIER and THETA HEDGE which got its head on the side and shifted out away from LORIZ despite the efforts of its rider. Because of this, neither THETA HEDGE nor SINGAPORE SPIRIT was ridden out over the concluding stages. A veterinary inspection of MOON PEAKS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. SINGAPORE SPIRIT, MERIDIAN GENIUS and SO AWESOME were sent for sampling.
