On arrival at the Start, MAXIMIZE HEART was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion the horse was lame behind and accordingly not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, MAXIMIZE HEART was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, MAXIMIZE HEART will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. AMBITIOUS HEART began only fairly and then was bumped by CITY LEGEND which shifted in. CITY LEGEND was then checked away from the heels of AMBITIOUS HEART which shifted out after being bumped by THE ANOMALY which was brushed by SWIFT SPIRIT on jumping. ULTIMATE GLORY was bumped by WINNING BREW shortly after the start which was in turn bumped by SUPER MISSION. From wide barriers, UNIVERSAL GO GO and BELLA BABY were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Approaching the 1200 Metres, AMAZEMENT became unbalanced when being steadied away from the heels of FOREVER CITY which shifted out marginally. Approaching the 1000 Metres, AMAZEMENT was bumped by THE ANOMALY which shifted in. BELLA BABY lost its right front plate after the 800 Metres. BELLA BABY was unable to obtain clear running in the early part of the Straight and passing the 300 Metres was shifted in away from the heels of WINNING BREW. BELLA BABY was again held up for clear running behind MELBOURNE HALL until after the 200 Metres. Passing the 50 Metres, CITY LEGEND and BELLA BABY bumped. Throughout the race, MELBOURNE HALL travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of AMBITIOUS HEART and ULTIMATE GLORY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. A veterinary inspection of FOREVER CITY immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea and also found it to have blood in the mouth. SUPER MISSION and HARMONY WIN WIN were sent for sampling.
