ARTHUR’S KINGDOM was crowded for room on jumping between THE ROCK and ALPHA HEDGE which, after shifting out, then shifted out further when bumped on the hindquarters by ARTHUR’S KINGDOM. In this incident, THE ROCK was bumped by ARTHUR’S KINGDOM. From the outside barrier, LAKESHORE EAGLE was ridden along in the early stages and after failing to muster speed was shifted across behind runners. SEA OF LIFE got its head on the side and made the turn at the 900 Metres awkwardly. Near the 700 Metres, PRECIOUSSHIP was momentarily awkwardly placed behind SEA OF LIFE. ALPHA HEDGE lay out in the early part of the Straight. After the race, J Moreira stated that he was asked to ensure that CIRCUIT THREE began well and it was expected that the horse would be able to obtain a position in about midfield. He said he rode his mount along in the early stages, however, was left racing in a three wide position without cover outside PRECIOUSSHIP after the 1400 Metres. He said there was an opportunity for PRECIOUSSHIP to shift in onto the rail approaching the 1000 Metres, however, when that horse continued to maintain its position one horse off the rail behind SEA OF LIFE, this resulted in CIRCUIT THREE being left racing wide and without cover throughout the race. He said notwithstanding the fact that CIRCUIT THREE was required to race three wide and without cover, the horse did not travel well at any stage of the race and did not feel comfortable in its action. A veterinary inspection of CIRCUIT THREE immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its left front and right hind legs. Before being allowed to race again, CIRCUIT THREE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of LAKESHORE EAGLE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. CIRCUIT THREE, THE ROCK and CONQUEROR were sent for sampling.
