After being placed in the barriers, PARTY EVERYDAY became fractious and reared on a number of occasions. Before being allowed to race again, PARTY EVERYDAY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial. K Teetan was fined the sum of $5,000 for striking PARTY EVERYDAY in the region of the head with an open hand when that horse was fractious. FUN LEGEND stood flat-footed as the start was effected and lost ground. The starting manners and performance of FUN LEGEND, which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, FUN LEGEND will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of FUN LEGEND immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. CHUNG WAH SPIRIT was crowded for room on jumping between SONIC FIGHTER and DOUBLE TAKE which began awkwardly and shifted in. WAR LORD stumbled at the start. After the race, WAR LORD, which lost its right front plate in the early stages, was found to have sustained an injury to the right front foot. Before being allowed to race again, WAR LORD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. From wide barriers, WELL DRAGON, CHEERFUL STAR and LONDON LUCKYSTAR were all steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners. Passing the 1400 Metres, WELL DRAGON was awkwardly placed close to the heels of LONDON LUCKYSTAR. WAR LORD travelled wide and without cover in the early stages and after the 1100 Metres was allowed to improve its position to race outside the lead, however, continued to race wide and without cover. At the 900 Metres, SONIC FIGHTER went amiss. When SONIC FIGHTER went amiss, DOUBLE TAKE was shifted in abruptly away from the heels of that horse. NATURAL WINNER and LONDON LUCKYSTAR were also hampered in consequence and shifted wider. A veterinary inspection of SONIC FIGHTER immediately following the race found that horse to have sustained an injury to the left front fetlock. Passing the 500 Metres, WAR LORD and PARTY EVERYDAY raced tight as PARTY EVERYDAY shifted to the outside of SKYEY SUPREME. Near the 450 Metres, CROWN AVENUE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of SKYEY SUPREME when being shifted to the outside of that horse to obtain clear running. Shortly after entering the Straight, K Teetan (PARTY EVERYDAY) dropped his left rein. Approaching the 100 Metres, KING’S RACE was momentarily awkwardly placed close to the heels of SKYEY SUPREME which shifted in. When questioned, M L Yeung stated that it was intended for DOUBLE TAKE to be ridden forward of midfield. He said after beginning awkwardly, he rode his mount along in the early stages but was unable to clear SONIC FIGHTER to his inside and therefore approaching the winning post on the first occasion he elected to shift his mount across and obtain cover behind SONIC FIGHTER. A veterinary inspection of WELL DRAGON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. CHUNG WAH SPIRIT and PARTY EVERYDAY were sent for sampling. Samples were also taken from SONIC FIGHTER.
