NOBLE STEED began only fairly. CIRCUIT GLORY began very awkwardly. ASSIMILATE was crowded for room on jumping between RIGHT CHOICE and SIMPLE ELEGANT which shifted out. ASSIMILATE was then steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover. WAR ROOM began very awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of KYRUS UNICORN, causing WAR ROOM to become badly unbalanced. A short distance after this, WAR ROOM was bumped by RIGHT CHOICE. WAR ROOM and KYRUS UNICORN were then shifted across behind runners from the outside barriers. Shortly after the start, SUPER STAR was crowded for room between BEAUTY RUSH and ALL IN MIND which, after initially being taken in by STAR OF YUEN LONG, then shifted in away from that horse. Despite being ridden along for some distance in the early stages, RIGHT CHOICE failed to muster speed. Approaching the 1200 Metres, CIRCUIT GLORY was momentarily crowded inside MONICA which got its head on the side and shifted in away from SUPER STAR when racing tight to the inside of that horse which in turn was racing tight inside ALL IN MIND. At the entrance to the Straight, NOBLE STEED and RIGHT CHOICE bumped. KYRUS UNICORN had difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 200 Metres and close to the finishing line was held up for a run behind ALL IN MIND and FARHH ABOVE. Consequently KYRUS UNICORN was not able to be properly tested and was not ridden out all the way to the end of the race. Near the 150 Metres, MONICA was steadied when disappointed for running between SUPER STAR and SINCERE BOY which, when giving ground, was taken out by CIRCUIT GLORY which got its head on the side and shifted out away from KYRUS UNICORN. After this, CIRCUIT GLORY raced tight outside KYRUS UNICORN as that horse shifted out in an attempt to obtain clear running. At the 150 Metres, the whip of M Chadwick (BEAUTY RUSH) was knocked from his grasp by the whip of M L Yeung (SIMPLE ELEGANT). Close to the finishing line, STAR OF YUEN LONG raced tight inside ALL IN MIND. Throughout the race, SINCERE BOY travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of SIMPLE ELEGANT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. FARHH ABOVE, ASSIMILATE and RIGHT CHOICE were sent for sampling.
