SEASONS BLOOM began only fairly. Shortly after the start, GOLDEN SIXTY was bumped by GOOD STANDING which was taken in by ENCOURAGING. From the outside barrier, CHAMPION’S WAY was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. A Badel (FAT TURTLE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 1100 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of GOLDEN SIXTY, resulting in that horse being taken in and crowding the room of SEASONS BLOOM for some distance which resulted in SEASONS BLOOM having to be checked after the 1000 Metres. A Badel was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 19 January 2020 and to expire on Thursday, 23 January 2020 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Badel’s good race riding record. Passing the 500 Metres, CHAMPION’S WAY raced tight outside GOLDEN SIXTY which improved to the outside of FAT TURTLE. A veterinary inspection of SEASONS BLOOM, KA YING STAR and NORTHERN SUPERSTAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. GOLDEN SIXTY and FAT TURTLE were sent for sampling.
