HEART CONQUERED was crowded for room on jumping between MR LUMIERES and CUE THE MUSIC which shifted in. MR LUMIERES then became unbalanced and shifted out, resulting in HEART CONQUERED being further crowded for room. DRAGON GENERAL was slow to begin. WATER DIVINER began only fairly and then lost ground when crowded for room between YEE CHEONG BABY and REFINED TREASURE which shifted in. COUNTRY STAR travelled keenly in the early stages. Near the 50 Metres, WATER DIVINER, which was closing off the race strongly, was shifted out away from the heels of HEART CONQUERED to continue improving. When questioned regarding the performance of YEE CHEONG BABY, Z Purton stated that in its previous races when successful YEE CHEONG BABY had been able to obtain a forward position and travelled comfortably, particularly in races conducted at Happy Valley. He said when racing over the straight course today for the first occasion, YEE CHEONG BABY was always pressured by horses racing around it and the horse was not comfortable. He said YEE CHEONG BABY came under pressure prior to the 400 Metres and was then very disappointing in the manner in which it weakened over the concluding stages. A veterinary inspection of YEE CHEONG BABY immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Jockey Purton added that although YEE CHEONG BABY was found to have blood in its trachea following the race, in his opinion, this did not fully account for the horse’s disappointing performance and reiterated that YEE CHEONG BABY did not handle the pressure of the race over the straight 1000 Metres course today. Before being allowed to race again, YEE CHEONG BABY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of STYLING CITY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. VOYAGE WARRIOR and CUE THE MUSIC were sent for sampling.
