CHEERFUL GIGGLES and CHEERFUL STAR began only fairly. Shortly after the start, PATRIOT HERO was steadied and shifted across behind runners to obtain cover. Approaching the 1100 Metres, HO HO FEEL commenced to travel keenly and was steadied away from the heels of CHEERFUL GIGGLES. Making the turn near the 900 Metres, MONGOLIAN LEGEND got its head on the side and lay out. MONGOLIAN LEGEND was then taken wider by CIRCUIT NUMBER TWO passing the 800 Metres when that horse shifted to the outside of FRIENDS OF KA YING. After this, MONGOLIAN LEGEND was left racing wide and without cover. Also making the turn near the 900 Metres, HO HO FEEL raced tight inside CHEERFUL GIGGLES which was crowded for room inside CHEERFUL STAR (C Murray) which shifted in marginally. C Murray was advised to ensure that he leaves comfortable racing room for runners to his inside in similar circumstances. In the early part of the Straight, HO HO FEEL was shifted to the outside of runners to obtain clear running. Approaching the 100 Metres, Apprentice M F Poon (HO HO FEEL) was struck on the left arm by the whip of C Schofield (CHEERFUL GIGGLES). Close to the finishing line, HO HO FEEL was awkwardly placed outside the heels of PATRIOT HERO and consequently was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race. In the Straight, CIRCUIT NUMBER TWO got its head on the side and lay in and passing the 200 Metres brushed FRIENDS OF KA YING. After this, CIRCUIT NUMBER TWO and FRIENDS OF KA YING raced tight and then over the concluding stages FRIENDS OF KA YING shifted out marginally and brushed CIRCUIT NUMBER TWO. CIRCUIT NUMBER TWO and FRIENDS OF KA YING were sent for sampling.
