TOP POWER was withdrawn on 20.5.14 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (right fore tendon injury) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter JOLLY GOOD (H W Lai). Before being allowed to race again, TOP POWER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. HEAR THE ROAR began only fairly. STARLIT WARRIOR and MOBILE KING bumped on a number of occasions shortly after the start due to STARLIT WARRIOR shifting out. After this, despite being ridden along, STARLIT WARRIOR was slow to muster speed. From a wide barrier, CHANTILLY was taken across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 1250 Metres, DARK SECRET got its head on the side and shifted in momentarily, resulting in HUMONGUS being crowded for room. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, STARLIT WARRIOR became unbalanced after shifting in of its own accord and making contact with the running rail. Passing the 250 Metres, HUMONGUS was shifted to the outside of MOBILE KING to obtain clear running. Over the final 100 Metres, HUMONGUS got its head on the side and lay in under pressure. A veterinary inspection of HEAR THE ROAR immediately following the race revealed the horse to be a “roarer” which had previously been reported. A veterinary inspection of DARK SECRET immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. MOBILE KING, TIPPERARY DAVOR and HUMONGUS were sent for sampling.
