SATIRICAL BOY and ALPHA GRAND were checked and lost ground when crowded for room at the start between YOU KNOW I WIN which shifted out and THE UNTOUCHABLELAD which, after initially shifting in of its own accord, was then taken in further by HOLY MAC which shifted in. From the outside barrier, HORACE’S EMPIRE was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. When being steadied passing the winning post on the first occasion to allow MY HOME TOWN to cross, YOU KNOW I WIN commenced to prove difficult to settle. YOU KNOW I WIN was then awkwardly placed close to the heels of MY HOME TOWN for some distance after this. Passing the 1100 Metres, ALPHA GRAND commenced to race keenly and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of CIRCUIT STAR. ALPHA GRAND then continued to prove difficult to settle for some distance. In the Straight, GREAT RENOWN got its head on the side and lay in under pressure. After the race, Y T Cheng reported that YOU KNOW I WIN coughed on pulling up. A veterinary inspection of YOU KNOW I WIN immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination did not reveal any significant findings. CIRCUIT STAR, HORACE’S EMPIRE, INTELLECTUALSTRIDE and MY HOME TOWN were sent for sampling.
