After being loaded, POLYGOLD became fractious and broke through the front gates prior to the start being effected. POLYGOLD was quickly restrained, returned to the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, POLYGOLD will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. REDOUTE’S FORTUNE began awkwardly. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, KUNG HEI FAT CHOI raced tight inside SCENT OF OSMANTHUS which got its head on the side and lay in. POLYGOLD, which was racing behind KUNG HEI FAT CHOI, shifted out away from the heels of that horse and bumped FULL VERSION. Near the 1300 Metres, KUNG HEI FAT CHOI momentarily raced in restricted room inside SCENT OF OSMANTHUS which itself raced tight inside SURE FORWARD which throughout the race travelled wide and without cover. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that EKRAAR EMPEROR had lost its right front plate. Also after the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that REALLY THE BEST had blood present at its right nostril. He said an endoscopic examination confirmed the horse’s trachea to be clean and as such was not deemed to be an official bleeder. A veterinary inspection of KUNG HEI FAT CHOI after the race did not show any significant findings. SCENT OF OSMANTHUS, POLYGOLD and MOUNT VICTORY were sent for sampling.
