Steward Report Predict Pace Map
DR SUPER was slow to begin. ALPHA GLORY was crowded for room at the start between SUNNY FAY which shifted out and HAPPY GOAL which, after shifting in of its own accord, shifted ground further when bumped on the hindquarters by ALPHA GLORY. From the outside barrier, SUPER TIGER was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. In the early stages, HAPPY GOAL got its head on the side and hung in and then throughout the race travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SUNNY FAY, B Prebble stated that after being placed in the barriers, SUNNY FAY became fractious and then jumped awkwardly as the start was effected. He said he was able to obtain a position in midfield and SUNNY FAY appeared to be suited by the tempo of today’s race. He said at the top of the Straight SUNNY FAY was crowded for room when obtaining a tight run between PROLIFIC CHAMPION and ULTIMATE WINNERS, however, was able to obtain clear running at the 400 Metres. He said SUNNY FAY came under pressure and despite being steadied away from the heels of ULTIMATE WINNERS near the 100 Metres, the horse, in his opinion, was disappointing. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of HIGHLAND DRAGON, D Whyte stated that from a wide barrier, he was asked to shift HIGHLAND DRAGON across behind runners shortly after the start and obtain a position with cover. He said in accordance with these instructions he shifted HIGHLAND DRAGON across closer to the rail shortly after the start and HIGHLAND DRAGON enjoyed a good run behind the favourite, SUNNY FAY. He said HIGHLAND DRAGON travelled satisfactorily in the early and middle stages and when shifted to the outside of runners in the early part of the Straight briefly responded to his riding, however, came under pressure after the 300 Metres at which time the horse got its head on the side and lay in. He said although HIGHLAND DRAGON proved difficult to ride out for the remainder of the Straight due to hanging in, nonetheless the horse was disappointing in the manner in which it weakened over the final 200 Metres after initially responding well to his riding in the early part of the Straight. He added that HIGHLAND DRAGON did make a respiratory noise when placed under pressure in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of SUNNY FAY and HIGHLAND DRAGON after the race did not show any significant findings. SUNNY FAY, DR SUPER and SUPER GOODIES were sent for sampling. <25/6/2012 Additional Veterinary Report>SUNNY FAY, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. SUNNY FAY was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer J Moore this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, SUNNY FAY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
