NOBODY BUT YOU and GLOBAL FAME were slow to begin. From wide barriers, SHAREMA FEELING, FIERY RAIDER and INTELLECTUALSTRIDE were all taken across behind runners shortly after the start. At the 1200 Metres, FIERY RAIDER, SHAREMA FEELING and HAPPY SCORE were all hampered when taken wider by SUMMER DASH which shifted out slightly. For some distance approaching and passing the 1000 Metres, GLOBAL FAME raced ungenerously and got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of NOBODY BUT YOU. Passing the 900 Metres, INTELLECTUALSTRIDE was checked when crowded for room between HAPPY SCORE and GLOBAL FAME which shifted out when continuing to be checked away from the heels of NOBODY BUT YOU. After the 600 Metres and again rounding the Home Turn, INTELLECTUALSTRIDE got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of GLOBAL FAME. Approaching the 200 Metres, PAPAS, which was commencing to give ground, momentarily raced tight between BLESSING WIN and HOW SPEEDY which shifted out to obtain clear running. M Chadwick (FIERY RAIDER) dropped his whip approaching the 150 Metres. Having in mind M Chadwick’s prior record of having dropped his whip in races, he was fined the sum of $5,000. For the majority of the race, SKY ONE travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the performance of SHAREMA FEELING, Z Purton stated that the race in which it competed most recently when finishing second was run at a genuine tempo and SHAREMA FEELING was able to travel well throughout the race. He said today the tempo of the race was more moderate and near the 1200 Metres SHAREMA FEELING commenced to prove difficult to settle when steadied away from the heels of HAPPY SCORE. He said after this SHAREMA FEELING commenced to make a significant abnormal breathing noise which worsened as the race progressed. He said he rode SHAREMA FEELING along in the early part of the Straight, however, it was apparent to him that the horse was experiencing trouble breathing and for this reason he did not test it over the final 150 Metres. A veterinary inspection of SHAREMA FEELING after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of SHAREMA FEELING was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SHAREMA FEELING will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SHAREMA FEELING, SUMMER DASH and INTELLECTUALSTRIDE were sent for sampling.
